Health: Frankie has a long history of over-preening his feathers. There’s appears to be no health issues that contribute to the habit.Temperament:
Frankie is a sweetheart. He may be a little shy at first but relaxes and warms up quickly. We consider him to be quiet and well-mannered. He’s not nippy but I understand that once in a while he bit his former owner as she had less and less time to spend with him. As with the majority of U2s he can be loud at times. Giving him plenty of attention addresses the issue just fine.History:
Frankie spent his entire life with one very loving couple. He was deeply loved and well cared for. He had plenty of attention until the last few years. He was surrendered to rescue because his owners are getting on in years and know that they cannot meet his needs maintain his care. This was a very difficult decision and one that took some time to make.Adoption Requirements:
- Frankie will be happiest in a home with a mature adult owner. We are primarily looking for someone that works from home or is retired. This guy is happiest when out of his cage with a member of his human family. As a rule Toos require a lot of attention. Be committed to making Frankie a vital part of your world.
- We are looking
for someone that has parrot experience and has at least studied about
Umbrella Cockatoos. Too experience is a plus!
- While Frankie has
been around children years ago he’ll do best in a home where there are
no children. Adults only will make Frankie happy.
- You need to
reside in a single family detached home. Frankie isn’t
excessively noisy but he is a Too and can at times be pretty vocal.
- Be financially
secure and not in danger of loosing your livelihood. Your income is
expected to be reliable.
- He eats premium
foods and enjoys plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and
nuts. He also will be happy to share a healthy snack with
you.
- Be able to afford
veterinary care and ready to go to what ever length it takes to meet
this birds health needs should something arise that demands medical
attention.
- Frankie must be
kept inside your home with time spent with you out of doors several
times a week. Sunshine is important to these guys.
- We require that
you provide him a newer powder coat or stainless steel cage with the
dimensions of approximately 36x28x66. He loves having a
play-top. In the event you provide a dome-top of similar size
it would be nice to have a grape vine or manzanita play-stand
